Town of Aurora Champions the Treat Accessibly Initiative for Halloween

For the second year in a row, the Town of Aurora is embracing the spirit of inclusivity with a special initiative to make trick-or-treating accessible for everyone. All residents are invited to join in creating a community that ensures all trick-or-treaters can fully enjoy the Halloween experience.

The initiative involves making simple adjustments to the way homes and businesses provide treats. Whether setting up a table on your driveway, lawn or in your garage, adding pathway lighting, offering non-food treats or turning down the music and strobe lights, there are many ways to contribute to creating a more inclusive Halloween experience for all.

“This initiative encourages residents and businesses to make simple yet impactful adjustments to how they provide treats and a Halloween experience,” said Mayor Tom Mrakas. “By taking steps to make trick-or-treating accessible, we’re not just removing barriers, we’re building a more inclusive and compassionate community where everyone can participate in the fun.”

Residents are encouraged to register and display a free Treat Accessibly lawn sign, signaling to trick-or-treaters that their home is an accessible treat location and to show their commitment to making Halloween inclusive for everyone.
