Town Parking Lot Maintenance

Aurora Town Council approved a report with more details about the conditionally approved 2025 Capital Budget project for maintaining Town parking lots. In 2021, the Town completed a detailed assessment of all 26 Town-owned parking lots, identifying their condition and recommending maintenance and repair work.

By moving forward with this project, the Town will ensure its parking lots remain safe and functional, extend their lifespan and help prevent costly repairs down the road.

Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) Project Information Report

Aurora Town Council received a report detailing information on the Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) project. The CPPS is a planning tool that consolidates three applications to streamline the review and approval process and will be developed in cohesion with the ongoing Streetscape Urban Design Study. The CPPS allows the Town to plan proactively for future growth and will be informed by extensive public consultation and development over 2025.

Speed Limit Assessment on Stone Road

Aurora Town Council approved lowering the speed limit to 40 km/h on the north section of Stone Road from Bayview Avenue to Clift Road. Residents had requested a speed reduction, and while technical assessment found no need for a change, Council chose to lower the limit for consistency along the street.

Train Whistle Cessation Program Assessment at Town Crossings

Aurora Town Council approved a budget increase for the train whistle cessation safety assessment project which evaluates the feasibility of eliminating train whistling at the Town’s four level crossings, two of which are on Regional roads. Train whistling is a critical safety measure regulated by Transport Canada, ensuring the safety of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians at public grade crossings. The Canadian Rail Operating Rules require all trains to whistle whenever they approach a public grade crossing.
