Fire ban lifted for Aurora and Newmarket
With the improving weather conditions, Central York Fire Services (CYFS) has lifted the temporary fire ban put in place on June 6.
Although the ban has been lifted, CYFS asks residents to continue to practice fire safety when having a fire outdoors.
If you are using an outdoor flame of any type, remember to:
- Follow local rules including time of day, distance from items that can burn and fire size
- Fires are not allowed between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m.
- Fire must be at least 4 metres (13 feet) from your home, lot line, trees, fences, vehicles, overhead wires or any other combustible material
- Do not have a fire when it is windy
- Use only clean, safe fuel.
- Never leave a fire unattended
- Keep a garden hose close by and ready to use
-
- Keep the fire small – no more than 0.75 metres (30 inches) in diameter and 1 metre (40 inches) in height, including the flame height
Central York Fire Services thanks residents for following the fire ban and doing their part to ease the smoke contributing to the poor air quality.
