Aurora Leads the Way with Innovative Outdoor Battery Collection

 

The Town of Aurora is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Environmental 360 Solutions to introduce an outdoor smart battery collection container at Aurora Town Park. This initiative makes Aurora the first municipality in York Region and the fifth municipality in Ontario to offer residents 24/7 access to a dedicated, weather-resistant battery recycling bin.

 

“We are proud to be at the forefront of environmental stewardship in York Region,” said Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas. “This new outdoor battery collection container not only provides our residents with a convenient way to recycle their batteries, but also showcases our commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions.”

The state-of-the-art battery recycling container has been designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and features advanced sensors to monitor temperature and material volumes, ensuring safe and effective recycling.

Aurora has always offered battery recycling in our facilities, but this is just one more step we are taking to ensure that our community can responsibly dispose of batteries while contributing to a greener future.
