Aurora Launches Cybersecurity Escape Room Pop-Up in Partnership with siberX
The Town of Aurora, in partnership with siberX, is excited to launch a cybersecurity- themed escape room in Downtown Aurora. This immersive experience takes participants through thrilling scenarios designed to boost individual cybersecurity skills and strengthen defenses against growing threats in cybersecurity.
"We are thrilled to partner with siberX to offer this innovative experience to our community," said Mayor Tom Mrakas. "As cyber threats continue to evolve, it's crucial that we all learn the valuable skills and strategies to protect ourselves and businesses from cyber-attacks.”
Participants navigate a meticulously crafted home, office, and hacker’s den, each filled with challenging puzzles and realistic simulations. They will learn to defend against brute force password attacks, understand the dangers of ransomware, and sharpen their awareness of phishing scams. Designed to be both educational and entertaining, it is an ideal activity for team- building events or individual learning.
“We're incredibly excited to launch Canada’s first Cybersecurity Escape Room of this kind with the Town of Aurora. One constant message comes across loud and clear from our partners in cybersecurity – it is not a matter of ‘if’, but ‘when’ a cyber incident will happen. The best things we can do as a community is to come together to learn and offer training to residents and businesses,” said Mahdi Raza, CEO & Founder, siberX. “This escape room brings digital defence education to life, helping people understand and tackle online threats in an immersive, hands-on environment. It's an important step in making cyber awareness accessible to everyone.”
“The Aurora Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) leads the implementation of the Aurora Economic Development Strategic Action Plan which is predominantly focused on connecting with technology innovators, providing local business support, and building awareness in support of Downtown revitalization. The Emerging Aurora | siberX Cybersecurity Escape Room hits the mark in all three areas,” said Marilee Harris, Chair of the AEDC.
The cybersecurity escape room is free of charge and available by reservation only. In lieu of payment, participants are asked to bring a donation for the Aurora Food Pantry.
